about hypnotherapy
What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an exaggerated form of suggestibility. A state of hypersuggestibility with an increased receptivity to suggestion where there is communication between the conscious and the subconscious mind.
Hypnotism – The science and art of inducing the trance state in one’s self or others. The field of study which encompasses, among other things, hypnotic trance; its induction, management, and application; and related subjects such as the phenomena of 'waking suggestion' and naturally occurring trance states.

Hypnotherapist - A person trained in the science of hypnotherapy to assist a client with a particular symptom of the mind and body by inducing a relaxed and meditative trance like state where the subconscious mind is open to powerful suggestion.

Now, you might have some questions. You might even be fearful and concerned that hypnotherapy could cause you to do things you don't want to do or to say things you don't want to say. Or maybe you're afraid a hypnotherapist could make you cluck like a chicken or embarrass yourself. The truth is much less dramatic and more to the point. A hypnotherapist cannot make you do or say anything you don't want to do or say. At the deepest level of trance you will be fully awake and fully aware. You will remember the entirety of your sessions and come away feeling refreshed, relaxed and renewed. The magic lies in the methodology. Our subconscious mind is simple and honest and clear. It is devoid of chaos and confusion. Once we are in a state of hypnosis we are able to access our clear subconscious mind and make positive suggestions towards healing what ails us. Hypnotherapy is powerful and has a proven success rate. The average success rate for hypnotherapy is between 90-93% after an average of 6 sessions. Some issues require fewer sessions. This compares to a 38% success rate after an average of 600 sessions of psychoanalysis and 72% after 22 sessions for behavioral therapy.
My Story
Like so many people experiencing difficult times in life, I found myself in a talk therapists office about a decade ago. The therapist was wonderful. Her office was warm and welcoming and I did find it helpful on many levels but I never felt like it was truly getting to the core of my issues. Sure, talking about them was helpful and made me feel heard and allowed me to self reflect but I felt like something was missing. Some part of my mind just wasn't responding to all of this talking and my bank account was quickly dwindling. On a whim I decided to seek out a hypnotherapist. I was in a "why not?" phase of my mental health journey. I googled "hypnotherapists near me" and made my first session appointment. I loved it. It was direct and relaxing. I didn't have to tell my life story. I just had to share what it was I wanted to "fix". Three sessions later I found myself feeling lighter and free as if something powerful and positive in my mind had switched on. I found myself reacting differently to things that had previously caused me intense emotional pain and anxiety. It was nothing short of magic and I was determined to figure out how exactly hypnotherapy had been able to do, in only three sessions, what years of talk therapy had not. If there was a book on hypnotherapy I read it, videos, I watched them. I was obsessed and ultimately felt that it was important to do something more. I enrolled in the highest quality hypnotherapy school that I could find and set out to become a Certified Hypnotherapist. Flash forward to today and I am hundreds of hours into my continuing education and professional practice. It is my passion, honor and privilege to help others through this powerful practice of hypnotherapy that I am personally so very grateful for. If you're interested, I'd love to help.
